Commodore Barry Club of Brooklyn

DEDICATION OF HISTORIC MARKER

On Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2014 the Commodore Barry Club traveled to Philadelphia to participate in the dedication of an Official Historical Marker honoring Commodore John Barry, first flag officer of the
American Navy. Over the last few years, the Club has supported the project.
The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission sponsored the marker at Penn’s Landing, South Columbus Boulevard and Dock Street.Rev.  Daniel Ruff, S. J. blessed the marker. Speakers included Richard Sand, Esq. of the Commission, Hon. Mark Squilla of the Philadelphia City Council, Celeste A. Morello, nominator of the marker, John M. Elliott, Esq. of Elliott Greenleaf, Mary Nolan of the Commodore Barry Club, Francesca O’Brien of the Navy League and John Brady, President of the Independence Seaport Museum.
